You may have already seen that the Gregory Hyde Facebook Page just hit over 1,000 Likes. I am humbled, inspired, and ecstatic to see this happen... and I'm so appreciative for each person who has shared my music or page with someone else. Super loud high five for you guys. One of those that kinda stings your hand, but a good sting... it won't bruise your palm, just leaves you a little more awake and kinda impressed that you just cracked such a loud slap with someone else. That's the beauty of teamwork right there... I'm rambling.

I've got some great performances lined up as well (check the SHOWS page for all the details) including the full Gregory Hyde Band's return to Two Bros Roundhouse in Aurora next Saturday, August 27th!!! Do please join us. Each of our shows there has just continually gotten better, both in performance and attendance. Don't miss this one!

AND there are still tickets available for the upcoming CD Baby DIY Musician Conference, where I will be presenting "Death To The Dayjob": Making the transition from hobbyist to full-time musician - get your passes here:

Speaking of... Speaking

If you've seen me perform much before, you know I have a tendency to tell stories and ramble on about fun music facts. If you know me well, you're aware that's because I like to talk - especially about music, the music industry, random science & pop culture trivia, apologetics, and all sorts of other good stuff.

Well, in an effort to continue doing professionally what I would be doing anyway - I'm going to be speaking at the CDBaby DIY Musician Conference in Chicago this October! I am THRILLED about this opportunity. CDBaby has been an incredible resource that I've been using to help grow and sustain my career since the early 2000's, and their DIY Musician Podcast is one of my all-time faves. These guys are huge supporters of independent music, and I couldn't be happier about being part of this phenomenal event.

I HIGHLY recommend checking it out if you are in any stage of being a performing or composing musician, or are close to someone who is. You can get more info on the conference, and buy your tickets here:

Best regards,

Seriously, It's Coming.

Yes, The Bellevue Sessions Volume 2 really is in the works. Really. For serial.

I realize it's been about a year since the release of Volume 1 (and HUGE thanks to all of you who have bought or listened to those songs!), so I'm just as eager as everyone else to get the next EP out there (I think the kids these days say "dropped"). But, I am quite busy with live performances and other studio work, which is a lovely problem to have. So sit tight, and I promise to do my darndest to make it worth the wait.

In other news, I have been studying video production with the hopes of releasing more video content. Not just music videos, but tutorials and video blogs as well. It's common sense that we should play to our strengths, or focus on what is working best for our careers. My most watched video on YouTube (by far) is a cover of New Order's song Regret, which was recorded in very crummy fashion, with terrible audio... yet it dominates the most viewed category on my channel. Not rocket science to surmise that I should be doing more of that. Updates to come...

Hope to see you out at a show soon! Best regards,

Ich Liebe Sommer

Hey guys - there is no shortage of opportunities for the fine people of Chicagoland to catch me this summer. I'm very fortunate to have been asked back to many of the regular spots I've played in the past, such as Bar Louie, Hopvine Brewing Co., Fiora's, and Eddie Gaedel, and I'll also be making appearances at new venues (to me, at least) like Beer Market in Bolingbrook, Chez Moi, and Acquaviva. Check the SHOWS section for all the details!

Oh, and I'm learning German.

PLUS Spring House Concerts and Festivals

Hey guys! Hope you're all off to a great start to the New Year, kicking butt and taking initials (writing full names is a waste of valuable posterior-bashing time).

Work continues on the Bellevue Sessions, Vol. 02. However, I've had to delay it since I've had the very good problem of an influx of work with clients from my project recording studio, and also getting requests for custom songs for some film and tv projects. I would share them, but the clients kinda pay me not to. They win.

I still have some open spots on my calendar for the spring, so please contact me if you're in need of some live entertainment for your company or house event. Also, now that the weather is warming up, I'll be booking more house concerts as well. As before, there's no fee to host one. Shoot me an e-mail for all the details.

No plans for NYE? Problem solved.

So it's a late addition, but I'm thrilled to say I'll be back at Brew Years Eve this year in Chicago! It's a multi-level extravaganza of hors d'oeuvres, high-quality ales, and several excellent musical performances, incuding yours truly. For more info, and to buy tickets, click here.

Regardless of where your plans take you, please have a fun and safe evening. I'm so thankful to everyone who hired me for an event or show this year, and am excited to see what 2016 brings. Best regards,

Holiday Parties, Opening Shows, and Working on Bellevue, Vol. 02

My sincerest of apologies for the lack of updates lately.

It's been an eventful few months! The shattered pinky is back in fightin' shape, I've done quite a bit of traveling through the region for shows, have engineered and mixed some fantastic projects for local artists like Charlie Haley and Robert Kramer, and got the opportunity to open for such notable performers as Blood Sweat & Tears with Bo Bice at the Arcada Theatre in St. Charles, and comedian Jim Gaffigan in San Antonio, TX. I was hoping to get the chance to ask if he'd be making an appearance in the upcoming Super Troopers sequel, but the opportunity escaped me. Alas...

Also, it is that season once again. I still have a few open spots on the calendar for those of you looking to do a holiday party. Head over to the contact page for all the necessary info.

And yes, work has begun on The Bellevue Sessions, Vol. 02. My hope is to have it put together in time for a CD Release show at Two Brothers in Aurora on March 5, 2016. Mark your calendars now... and place your bets on if I can meet the deadline!

September 1, 2015

The New Album, "The Bellevue Sessions, Vol. 01" is HERE!!!

So Summer has been rolling along with a lot of great shows and opportunities, and it just keeps getting better. Over the next few weeks, I'll be returning to Bar Louie in Geneva, IL TWICE, returning to Eddie Gaedel Pub in Elburn, IL.

Then I'll be driving to St. Louis for some shows at Evangeline's and The Budweiser Brewhouse, coming back to Ballydoyle here in Chicagoland for a singer/songwriter event.

But the truly rare perfromance is for Changing Children's World Foundation's Jazz in The Park. I'll be joined by the lovely and talented Maddy Ludwig on piano as we play some jazz classics, as well as modern pop tunes with a jazz spin, for a great cause. Hope to see you there!

And yes, I broke a bone. The pinky finger on my right hand is seemingly unfit for supporting my body's weight after falling off of a moving bicycle. Lesson learned. But the show must go on... no gig cancellations! Please keep high-fives to a minimum during this difficult time. ;)

In Case You Missed Our Performance... or Just Want to Watch It Again - Enjoy:

We were supposed to also play our new single, Karma Payments, live on the air, but we ran out of time. But hey,... that's live T.V.!

All in all it was an incredible experience and the entire team at WGN were incredible to work with. Big shout-out to Styles, our soundman, and Marissa for doing so much to get us on the air. Let's do that again soon!

And if you want to catch a live show soon, there are plenty of opportunties (check the SHOWS page), including this weekend at The House Pub in St. Charles on Sunday evening. Hope to see you there!

August 1, 2015

The Gregory Hyde band is performing LIVE on WGN Morning News!

Truth. We'll be playing our new song, Karma Payments, live on the air, on Monday, August 10th at 9:45am, as well as a new Theme Song I wrote specifically for the WGN Morning News Crew. This will mark our first t.v. performance (my brief appearance on COPS doesn't count), so tune in or set your DVR!

There are lots of other great shows coming up this month, so stay tuned to the SHOWS section of the website as well.

As if that weren't enough, we'll be taking the stage at The Chicago Ale Fest this Saturday (June 18th). Obviously, this is a 21+ event, so if you're of age, GET YOUR TICKETS HERE and come on out to sample some incredible brews while listening to the sweet, sweet sounds of the Gregory Hyde Band. And yes, we'll be selling new CD there as well.

The St. Charles Riverfest was incredibly fun, even if we had to play in the rain... and get swarmed by bugs... and compete against the freakin' Stanley Cup Winning Blackhawks! Ha. All worth it though, thanks to all you die-hard fans who stayed out and braved the weather to sing along with us!

June 13, 2015

*** IF the weather gets crazy, we will relocate our performance*** to:
Cairo Ale House - 2009 FRANCISCAN WAY, WEST CHICAGO, IL, 60185

Today is the day! The new album, "The Bellevue Sessions, Vol. 01" is finally here! You can get your copy before everyone else at The Gregory Hyde band's headlining performance tonight at the St. Charles RiverFest. We'll be taking the BMO Harris Main Stage at 8pm. Copies of the new EP will be available for only $5, so bring some folding money along (and yes, we do take credit cards too).

The new songs will soon be available for download and physical CD purchase in the usual places - here, iTunes, YouTube, etc.

I am very proud of this new project and can't wait to perform these songs live with a full band for you guys. Lots of new covers added to the set, as well as some new additions to the band lineup. Come check it out!

That's right guys, we're HEADLINING one of the biggest fests in Chicagoland this summer!!!

Come see us play on Saturday, June 13th in downtown St. Charles at 8pm on the BMO Harris Main Stage.

We've got some new tunes worked up just for this show, and this will also be the launch party for the new CD "The Bellevue Sessions"! - G

Opening For Pat Benatar at Arcada Theatre

This just in - I have the honor of being asked to open for Pat Benatar at the historic Aracada Theatre in downtown St. Charles, IL!!! After opening for The Smithereens there earlier this month, I'm about as thrilled as I could be. Much thanks to Ron and everyone at for inviting me back! - G

April 5, 2015

The Light of Day

Just a quick note to remind everyone I'm still kickin'... work on my new EP has kicked into high gear, and I've also taken on several recording and mixing projects for other musicians! So the plate is pretty full and I'm determined to get some new music out in May, so I've been holed away in my studio almost 24/7.

BUT you can still catch me out at a few shows here and there this month. Hope to see you soon! - G

Revving Up

JUST ADDED: An HD video for Send It On Home from our sold-out show opening for Sister Hazel at The House of Blues in Chicago. Check it out!

2015 is already off to a great start - lots of exciting things are in store.

For starters, The Gregory Hyde Band will be returning at Two Brother's Roundhouse in Aurora on March 27th, and we'll be headlining this year's St. Charles Riverfest in June! More details to come...

AND the 2015 House Concert Tour will begin booking soon. I've restructured a few elements for this year's shows to make it even easier to host one of these unique events for you and your friends. Contact me for info.

And MANY thanks go to you, friends and fans, without whom I would be unable to make the music I love and support my family in doing so. 2014 was the biggest year for me as far as touring, reaching larger audiences, and having my songs heard and recognized on larger platforms. YOU helped make that happen. Yeah, it sounds kinda cliché and cheesy, but I truly am YOUR fan. THANK YOU!!! Let's make 2015 even bigger and better!

Year-End Wrap Up

Hey kids - so our appearance at The House of Blues in Chicago last Saturday could not have gone better. We made a ton of new friends and fans, and rocked the joint (if I do say so myself). Sister Hazel also did not dissapoint and brought their A-game for another amazing live show. A huge thanks to my band: Isaac Flex (drums), Jake Mack (guitar) and Doug Albregts (bass). Also, we're extremely grateful to The House of Blues and the Sister Hazel crew for having us perform with them yet again.

So what's next? Well, keep your eyes peeled for some more pictures and even audio/video of the House of Blues show. Working on that as we speak (errr... type/read... you know).

The House Concerts have wrapped up for the year as well, but those shows were such incredible experiences that I'm already working on improving the format and will soon start booking for the 2015 Spring House Concert tour!

BUT - There's one more big show this year. I'll be performing at one of Chicago's premier New Year's Eve Events. Brew Year's Eve in Chicago! If you like craft beer, great live music, and counting backwards from 10, you have no business being anywhere else this December 31st! More info here: Brew Year's Eve

Hyde + Hazel

It's official - I will be opening for Sister Hazel at House of Blues in Chicago on December 13th. This will be a full band show, and tickets are still available, so get yours now!!! Click here for more info.

I am ecstatic to be hanging and jamming with Ken, Drew, the rest of the Sister Hazel crew and all the Hazelnuts again! Touring with them earlier this year was one of the greatest experiences I've had as a musician.

Speaking of band & crew, joining me on stage will be Isaac Flex on drums, of the band FUE, and Jake Mack on lead guitar and backing vocals, a local solo artist from his own group, Jake Mack and The Last Stand. Both of these gys are the real deal and I'm honored to be sharing the stage with them.

Local House Concerts are also still being booked, so make sure and contact me if you'd like to host one for you and your pals.

New Material?

That's right. Not only has the string of House Concerts been a huge success thus far, but I've been debuting a collection of new songs that have been received quite well. I'm ridiculously excited about these tunes, as they're a departure from my previous work (I don't like getting predictable,... have you seen my hair?).

Want to hear them? No problem - just host a House Concert! It's absolutely free to set one up. My schedule for adding new House Concerts outside of Chicagoland and the surrounding regions is limited, but I've still got plenty of spots for local shows. These have easily been the most rewarding, engaging performance experiences I've ever had. Let's make one happen at your place!

Also just announced, I'll be providing a few hours worth of live music for Pumkin Party in The Park in downtown Wheaton, IL on 10/25 at 10:00am. All ages welcome, no entry fee. Bring the fam! Hope to see you there.

Rocking the Fox River

We had a blast headlining the Taste of Batavia Block Party this past holiday weekend. Thanks so much to everyone who came out and sang along, bought some CDs, or danced across the stage. This is just the beginning of some great shows to come as we head into fall, so keep your eyes open for more full band shows!

HOUSE CONCERT TOUR UPDATE: Putting together the schedule has taken a little more time than initially expected, so there's still time to set up a solo show at your home or other venue! And don't forget, these shows are being done on a guest-donation basis, so it doesn't cost you a dime to host one!

Want more info? Shoot me an e-mail at: for the details.

2014 Fall House Concert Tour

CRAZY IDEA: I'm planning a nation-wide tour around my next solo album, but all shows will be stripped-down house concerts through September and October 2014. And the best part, there is absolutely NO upfront cost to you for hosting one. Zero.

This could turn out to be the most incredible thing since that big green guy in purple jorts. Want to join me on this house tour extravaganza? Sure you do.

Want more info? Shoot me an e-mail at: for the details.

Back in Chicagoland

So the touring may have slowed down, but the pace has not. I've been glad to be sticking close to home for a bit and playing some local venues such as Bar Louie in Geneva Commons again.

I've also been spending more time in the studio recording for other local artists and mixing projects for some innovative creators such as The Anima Series.

And keep your eyes peeled for a unique show later this month at the new niche restaurant, Peanut Butter Planet, in Glen Ellyn. This place is far more than just PB&J sammiches... greatly looking forward to it! Hope to see you at a show soon.

Oh The Places You Will Go...

The past couple of months have been immensely fulfilling for me as an artist. The pace has been pretty hectic, so all the updates have been on my facebook page (

I travelled to Tulsa, OK and played a duo show with my brother, Chris, at The Hunt Club, which enabled me to see some old friends and family. It was a blast, and I'll be returning to that venue next month on May 28th.

The House of Blues and Hard Rock Cafe shows for The SHARP Road Tour 2014 continued through Atlanta, Dallas, Anaheim, Chicago, Las Vegas, and New York. And I was invited, along with my bandmates, to perform as the opener for a portion of Sister Hazel's tour through North Carolina and Georgia.

Which - I must say, the fellas in Sister Hazel have been incredibly fun and supportive. It's hard to find such talented artists who are as welcoming and easy going as these guys are. While we're passing out kudos, I must also say everyone at the venues I've been blessed enough to perform at along the way have been extremely professional and kind. The people around you can often be what enables you to reach the heights you're capable of, and such has been the case with all these shows.

I'm greatly looking forward to what the future holds. In the meantime, I'll be back in Chicagoland for a break, so come on out and say hi if you're a local fan. Hope to see you all soon. Best,

- Gregory

On the Road Again

Sorry for the lack of new posts lately, but it has certainly been busy! I had the honor of opening for 10,000 Maniacs at The Arcada Theater in St. Charles this past week. I darn near sold out of my CDs and met a ton of great fans at that show - thanks to everyone involved for making it such a colossal experience. You make it possible for me to keep doing this.

I've also been fortunate to have other spots opening for Los Lonely Boys and Gino Vanelli. And it would seem the opening spots for Sister Hazel went as well as I thought they did, as I'll be opening more shows for them across the nation this month!

I'll also be playing at some new spots close to home here in the Chicagoland area, so check the SHOWS page for more information.

December 16, 2013

Fun with Hazelnuts

Last Saturday night, I had the privilege of opening the show for Sister Hazel and Joe Bachman at The House of Blues in Chicago. All the venue staff, as well as the crew and bandmembers of the other acts were all great to work with, and the audience was incredibly gracious... it was nothing short of phenomenal.

It was a dream come true to finally perform on that stage. I've wanted to be up there ever since I saw my first show at HOB several years ago (I actually got kicked out that night, but that's another story...).

Thanks to everyone who came out, applauded, bought CDs, or continually yelled "You're HOT!" (you know who you are). And special thanks to Amanda and Gleb for helping with the merch tables last minute.

More great shows coming your way soon - stay tuned and have a very Merry Christmas everybody!

November 18, 2013

Picture This...

Last week I had the privelege of opening for Edwin McCain in Orlando, FL as a part of the Tour De Force 2013 event put on by SHARP. The show was phenomenal... we were even joined onstage by SHARP personnel, including President, Doug Albregts, along with Shane Coffey, Colin Regina, and Barry Geller, all of whom more than held their own on their respective instruments. It takes a legion of people to pull of a show of this size and scope and I'm thankful for the incredible jobs done by all.

Oh yeah, did I mention I got to meet Bruce Dickinson? Yes, THE Bruce Dickinson. True story.

More images from the show can be seen by clicking here.

And the string of awesome opening shows has no end in sight... on Saturday, December 14th, I will be opening for Sister Hazel at The House of Blues in downtown Chicago! I had the good fortune to meet Ken and Drew from Sister Hazel while in Florida, and I'm glad to say they were super cool guys - I can't wait to team up with them again next month!

November 7, 2013

Los Lonely Boys

I just found out I will have the privelege of opening the show for Los Lonely Boys tomorrow night, Friday, November 8th at The Aracada Theatre in downtown St. Charles, IL. They are one of the best groups on the planet - come on out and get some good sounds in your ears!!!

More info is available here:

Going Down South

Heh... that reminds me, did you ever see that Christopher Walken SNL sketch where he plays a Colonel in the Civil War? I digress...

So I will be travelling to Orlando, Florida in a few days to perform for an incredible event put on by SHARP, opening for Edwin McCain and playing alongside acts such as Sister Hazel. I'm thrilled to the point of maniacal laughter. Edwin is a brilliant songwriter, and I've had the pleasure of being requested to play his songs more than a few times at weddings and parties. Good stuff - looking forward to meeting him.

In other news, I've continued doing more recording and mixing work - most recently a 6-song EP by local country acy Billy Croft & The 5 Alarm. We mixed all 6 songs in 1 day! Whew... if you're in the market for some recording, mixing, or mastering work, please consider giving me a call. You can find more info here:

And as if that weren't enough to keep me busy, my wife and I welcomed our 3rd son, Clark, into the world last week. Pretty sure we've made another drummer... time will tell.

Take care.

September 1, 2013

Where Do We Go Now?

Heavy ponderings from the mind of Axl? Yeah, but also the question most on my mind lately. (And also whoever wrote that kinda silly "Rock On" song)

I recently took a trip to New York City to play a showcase show for a very cool independent label. It was a wonderful experience and I'm excited to see what comes from it. If nothing else, it was a blast to finally play in NYC and meet some great people.

I'm also looking to record my next project, which is guaranteed to be far different from anything else I've done. I'll be collaborating with my good friend Josh Roach on the new songs... he's an incredible songwriter and drummer from my home town of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and I'm beyond thrilled about the direction we're taking. "So Gregory, (gasp!) does that mean you're not a solo artist anymore?" Yeah. I dunno... kinda. I guess I should refer you to revisit the title of this post.

What I do know is I'm more thrilled about what lies ahead than I've been in a while. Stick around. You're bound to hear something cool soon.

July 1, 2013

Ze Noos

This just in - I engineered and mixed my last album, Southern Highway Love Songs, myself and just recieved a 5-Star review from Recording Magazine for the work on my song "Back in Heaven Again". I am thrilled to have such a prestigious publication give me such an honor. You can read the full review here: Back In Heaven Again Review

As is typical this time of year, most of my shows have been private events lately. But I have started appearing at some new venues as well... the gigs at TGIFriday's in St. Charles and Batavia went well, and I'll be returning to the St. CHarles location this month on the 18th.

The summer shows have been a blast thusfar - many thanks to everyone who has hired me for your events or cmoe out to one of my shows. It's because of you that I'm able to do what I love, and I am forever grateful for that.

June 3, 2013

The sun is shining, the sounds of chirping birds are being drowned out by the rattle of lawn mower engines, and I'm listening to Van Halen's 5150 album. This can only mean that summer is once again upon us.

As a result, most of my shows coming up are private events. So if you want to see me in June, make note of the few public performances I have on the SCHEDULE page, - OR - hire me to play your own Summer party!

I'll be at Whole Foods in Wheaton this Saturday afternoon. You don't want to miss this event as they'll be grilling up some free food for everyone, and of course the live music will be exceptional. I'm also going to be playing some Thursday night gigs at TGIFriday's restaurants in the area... the St. Charles location (across from Charlestown mall) on 6/13, and the Batavia location (next to Randall Cinema) on 6/27. Friday's on Thursdays. Wrap your head around that one.

In other news, did you know my song "Last Time" was played on the T.V. show So You Think You Can Dance? True story. I'm nearly famous.

Hope to see you at a show soon. Take care.

Tonight and the Rest of Your Life

* A previously unreleased free song will be provided ONLY to attendees of this show.

* Doors open at 6:30pm. Gregory will play a solo set from 7:00 - 7:50pm, then the full band will take the stage from 8:00 - 9:00pm.

Band Shows, Big Deals, and More Free Music

Thanks to everyone who made it out to our full band show at Viper Alley last week. We had a blast sharing the bill with Howard & The White Boys - a stellar blues group that you MUST see live. My duo show with my brother, Chris, at Wildwood last Saturday was also a success. Thanks so much for all your support.

The next full band show is already on the calendar. We'll take the stage at Cubby Bear Wrigleyville in Chicago on Friday,
March 22nd. And there are rumors about an opening slot for a huge national act the next night, but we're awaiting confirmation. It seems the band is really taking off this year...

Band Shows, Big Deals, and More Free Music

On Friday, February 1st, I'll be playing a full band show at Viper Alley in Lincolnshire. The very next night, I'll be playing a duo show at Wildwood in Geneva. A duo with whom? Well, my brother of course... Chris will be back in town and helming the guitar and vocal duties with me for both of those shows. Mark your calendars!

"But Gregory, that's a really long time to wait!" Yes, it is - January is typically a little slow for me, which means my schedule is pretty open right now. So if you book me for a private party for the month of January, I'm offering a 20% off discount. Limited time only. Call or e-mail me to set up the details.

Speaking of great deals, hopefully you took advantage of my free Christmas song download last month. If not, you've missed your chance. Go ahead and have a good cry about it. I'll wait...

Free Christmas Song!

I've just recorded a version of "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing" that is available for FREE.

The song features beautiful harmonies (assisted by my lovely bride, Elissa), yet it rocks hard enough to knock Dwyane Johnson's teeth out.

To get it, just sign up for my e-mail newsletter. Already on it? (you probably are if you're reading this) No problem - just go through the sign up & confirmation process again, and you get the song. Don't worry, you'll still only get one copy of the newsletter. Click here to get started >

Also, I've still got some dates open for Holiday parties this month. Now is the time to contact me about your corporate or private event before the dates fill up.

What's New...

My apologies for a slight hiatus in online activity - some computer problems combined with needing some rest after the push for the new album, recovering from a couple colds, the CD release show, and the new video (see below) all culminated and sorta knocked me out for a bit.

But more shows are being added to the schedule, and already I'm working on some new music for you guys. Be on the lookout for new tunes (and new videos) coming soon.

September 1, 2012

Thank God...

Hey everybody. For those of you who haven't seen it yet, I released my first honest-to-goodness music video this last month. It's for the song "Thank God I'm Not Religious" from my new album Southern Highway Love Songs. You can check it out here:

Like and subscribe - it helps greatly.

Thanks to everyone who made it out to the CD Release show this last weekend. We had an incredible time, depsite some technical challenges we had to overcome. I am truly amazed and humbled by the support you guys continue to give. I wouldn't be able to continue making music without it.

Unfortunately, there was also a small issue with the CDs themselves: A few fans reported some adhesive present on the underside of the disk. So far, it has been possible to remove this with some soapy water and a soft cloth (wipe in a straight line outward from the center of the disk). If that doesn't remedy your disk, please notify me via gh @ and I will gladly replace it. I intended your purchase price to go entirely towards music, not a cleaning chore, so you have my sincere apologies for any inconvenience.

And a big thanks to Jake Mack and The Last Stand for doing such a great set opening the show. Looking forward to the next time!

Regards, - Gregory Hyde

Ready for summer? Well then you've gotta check out the show this Friday in Vernon Hills. I'll be playing at the official pool opening for Life Time Fitness - check the SHOWS section for address and other details. Sure to be a great time, and I've been told it's the best outdoor pool area this side of Las Vegas. Open to the public, so come on out.

Singing the National Anthem for The Chicago White Sox went very well - video is coming soon, and there are a few photos you can dig for on facebook. Thanks to the White Sox crew for having me out to the park!

Lots of fun summer gigs coming - check the SHOWS section for more details.

Take me out to the ball game...

Lots of cool things in the works:

The new album is shaping up. Drums, percussion, acoustic guitars, and keyboards are done. I'm recording vocals right now, and so far I'm very pleased with the results of all that vocal therapy I underwent.

I've been selected to sing our country's National Anthem at the Chicago White Sox game on Tuesday, April 17th. It's a night game, so come on out and watch a great game and see the fireworks.

Also, on April 27th, I'll be playing on Main Street in Glen Ellyn, IL once again for their "Shops and Hops" festival. Live music, craft beer, good food, and some great local shops (my personal fave being Class of '67 Vintage Guitars). What more could you want on a Spring evening? Click here for more info.

New Year, New Gigs, New Album.

The new year is off to a good start. The new album is coming together nicely - I've been playing some of the new songs at the full band and all-originals shows and getting some good responses to them.

Speaking of, we had a great time at Otto's in Dekalb last weekend. For those of you who weren't there, you missed a killer lineup. North of Eight, Lucrezio, and Jake Mack all did a stellar job. These are some seriously talented musicians who are worth taking the time to listen to. And if blues / blues-based rock is your thing, Jake Mack should be your new favorite band. Those guys blew the roof off.

So don't miss the next time - we're doing the full band thing again on March 10th at Goose Island Brewery Wrigleyville in Chicago. The first 50 fans will receive a download card good for a free copy of the Hello God This is Gregory Hyde album.

Hope to see you at a show soon.

Regards, - Gregory Hyde

New Year, New Gigs, New Album.

I'm extremely excited about what awaits in the coming months. First off, the Gregory Hyde band is already booked for 2 shows at some killer venues - January 28th at Otto's in Dekalb, and March 10th at Goose Island Brewery Wrigleyville in Chicago. If you didn't see us in 2010, you missed out. We're a pretty stinkin' good live band if I do say so myself. Need more incentive? Fine... the first 50 fans at each of those shows will receive a download card good for a free copy of the Hello God This is Gregory Hyde album.

Also, I'm playing an all originals acoustic show at The Elbo Room in Chicago on Tuesday, January 10th. Just in time for you to shake off that New Year's hangover, or to celebrate sticking with your resolution to see more live music in 2012.

Aaaannnd, the new album is moving ahead nicely. I just completed a new song, which I'll be debuting at The Elbo Room show, and may have another ready by the time that show rolls around.

Oh yeah, and I'm about to become a dad again any day now. That needs no hype to make it sound cool.

Stay safe, have fun, come out to a show and sing along.

Regards, - Gregory Hyde

T-shirt 'Tober.

Congrats to everyone who won a free shirt through the facebook "T-Shirt 'Tober" contests! Even though November doesn't start with a T, keep your eyes peeled for more of the same this month.

Tis the Season to start booking for your Holiday parties. So if you, your friends & family, or your company are looking to hire me for a party or event this winter, now is the time to contact me. Those dates go fast...

The new album is in pre-production, which mostly means I'm selecting songs to record, trying out demos, and listening to a lot of new music to inspire the sonic direction of the recording. The "Foster the People" album has been a big player in that regard. So though it may be a departure from the Hello God This is Gregory Hyde disk in production, rest assured it will share the commonality of great songs you can sing along with.

Feel free to let me know some of the new albums you've been loving too.

Regards, - Gregory Hyde

T-shirt 'Tober.

Hey guys. If you've "liked" my facebook artist page, you may have noticed that I've been giving away free t-shirts lately. (If you haven't, what the heck are you waiting for?! Click HERE, then click the "Like" button). Good news: all through the month of October, I'll be continuing the tradition.

The only requirement is that you have to be the first to answer correctly when I post a contest question. No worries, you don't need to be a MENSA member or even a rabid Gregory Hyde fan with complete knowledge of my mouthwash preference (Listerine). The questions are designed to provide the fairest, most even-playing field possible, and I offer up hints until the correct answer is guessed.

SO - "like" my page on facebook. Check in regularly for updates. Guess the right answer. Score a free Gregory Hyde shirt.

Aaaaaaaaaand... I've been posting some new YouTube videos. Some of which include a guitar lesson on how to play my song "Perfect Sometimes", a full-band live rendition of that same song, and some live video of me performing songs unavailable on any albums. Check 'em out by clicking HERE.

New album in the works.

The summer gig load is starting to slow down, I just returned from a week of vocal vacation, and the basement studio is almost ready to go. I am VERY excited about recording again.

To tell the truth, I have 2 albums I already have a strong vision for. The first will be comprised of the Southern-esque style ballads and alt-country rock songs I've dabbled in over the past few years. If you were at the Chord on Blues show last month, you heard us debut the song "Memphis", which is indicative of the direction this disk will be heading. Strongly considering "Better", "A Beautiful Girl", "Come Around", and "Thank God I'm Not Religious" for the line-up as well, for those of you familiar with my back-catalog.

I've been majorly geeking-out on audio engineering and mixing books & podcasts, so I'm eager to use the newfound knowledge as well as experiment a little more this time around. The goal is to have the new disk available by early 2012. We shall see...

I'm playing my first full band show on August 20, 2011
at Chord On Blues in St. Charles, IL

A full-fledged rock and roll extravaganza is coming your way. The power trio of Doug Albregts, Aaron Wilson, and yours truly will be playing your favorite songs from the Hello God, This is Gregory Hyde album. Trust me, this will be unlike any show you've ever seen from me. So mark your calendars, invite everyone you've ever met, and hike your pants up to prepare for the flood of awesomeness you'll be standing in. (I just love hyperbole.)

Have you heard the Hello God, This is Gregory Hyde - Commentary Version yet? If not, dry your eyes - it's still available. Just send an e-mail to with COMMENTARY in the subject line, and I'll send you the link to download it for free.

Regards, - Gregory Hyde

May 23, 2011

Hello everyone. Who likes free stuff?

Today is my birthday, so I'm giving YOU a gift - a FREE download of the commentary version of Hello God This is Gregory Hyde. Like the commentary track on a DVD, it's me walking you through how the songs were written and recorded. Just send an e-mail to with COMMENTARY in the subject, and I'll send you the link to download it for free.

Regards, - Gregory Hyde

May 7, 2011

Greetings. The weather is getting nicer which means I'm playing a TON. This is good, because I absolutely love my job.

BIG NEWS - I'm going to be releasing a new recording soon. The commentary version of "Hello God This is Gregory Hyde". Ever watch the director's commentary on a DVD? Well this will be exactly like that, except I'll be taking you through the stories behind the songs and the making of the album. The best part? It's gonna be free. Watch for details.

Regards, - Gregory Hyde

April 4, 2011

Okay, you get a break this year. It's been tradition for me to make an April Fools Day post with claims akin to getting signed by Motown records, being chosen as a guest judge on American Idol, or beating up John Mayer again, but not this year. True, some folks have fallen for my shenanigans year in and year out, but I feel a hiatus is necessary to keep the game interesting. Next year, watch your back. Maybe.

The Summer parties & weddings are starting to make a dent on the schedule, so if you'd like to book me for such an event, I'd recommend you start dialing now. I'll be back at Wildwood every week this month (we's like peas an' carr-ohts), and I'll be returning to play Downtown Glen Ellyn's Ladies Night Out event again this year - which is always a blast. Check the SHOWS page for more details.

Regards, - Gregory Hyde

March 1, 2011

Still sore from all the snow shoveling (both here in Chicagoland and in my native Tulsa), trying to keep my fingers warm at gigs, and begrudgingly burning the menthol-laced flavor of coughdrops into the fibres of my tastebuds to try and keep my voice working... I'm ready for Spring. How about you?

I'm very excited about some of the shows coming up in the next few months. Check back on the SHOWS page often, as I'll be updating it as soon as they become finalized.

In other news, I had one of the music industry's biggest players listen to my music this week. Though it doesn't seem I struck said individual with a "Gregory Hyde is the new Bono" moment, he was complimentary. Gotta like that.

I've been toiling for months to complete my basement studio (with the help of some very dear and highly skilled friends), and I expect to be recording some new material very soon. More music to come...

Regards, - Gregory Hyde

January 26, 2011

I have some great news - I will be returning to my hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma next week for a couple of shows. I realize this is a bit last-minute, so I thought I'd make it worth your while to be in attendance. Come to BOTH shows and you'll get a free Gregory Hyde T-shirt. Yep, absolutely free.

The first show is Sunday evening at Bodeans (6 - 9pm), the second on Wednesday at The Hunt Club (9pm - midnight). Details are on the SHOWS page, or you can click here to view the poster. I'm very excited about the shows and look forward to seeing all my Oklahoma friends, family and fans while I'm there.

In other news, I'm playing at the Front Street Cafe in Geneva, IL for the first time this Saturday night (8 - 11pm). I also ended my blog hiatus. Check it out.

Regards, - Gregory Hyde

January 1, 2011

Happy New Year! 2010 was an incredible year for me, and I hope the same was true for you. The New Years Eve bash at Wildwood was a smash. I was joined on stage by my brother, Chris, who was in town from Seattle, and had we not rocked 2010 to death so successfully, we all might still be stuck in last year. You can show your appreciation in US currency.

Also noteworthy, I highly recommend checking out Beth Thornley's CD, Wash U Clean. It's an outstanding album filled with catchy pop tunes, insightful ballads, and adventurous romps. Without question, it's my fave album of last year.

I expect 2011 to be even better than last year. And if the Mayans were correct, it's the final full year for our universe - so get out and see some live SHOWS while you can!

Regards, - Gregory Hyde

November 22, 2010

This coming Monday, November 29th at 6pm, I will be opening the show for Lee DeWyze (2010 American Idol Winner) at the Chicago Hard Rock Cafe. This is a free, all ages show, so bring everyone you know!

Save the date - December 31, 2010. My brother Chris and I will be bringing the rock to the New Years Eve celebration at Wildwood in Geneva, IL. Check back here in the coming weeks for more information.

Also, Santa and I are teaming up early this year. For a limited time, you can get Gregory Hyde T-shirts for just $10 in the STORE. That's half-price, kids. Beat the rush, avoid the Black Friday madness, and do all your Holiday shopping here at!!!

Regards, - Gregory Hyde

November 1, 2010

Hi kids. Winter is slowly creeping upon us after our standard 24 hours of fall weather here in the Chicagoland area. This means it's time to start booking for those Holiday parties! Give me a call for entertainment for your company Christmas party, friendly Holiday gathering, or Ugly Christmas Sweater Extravaganza.

October 10, 2010

Boo. I am no longer playing at Potbelly locations in Wheaton, Elgin, or Naperville during the week. But you can still satisfy your Potbelly/Gregory Hyde jones on Friday & Saturday at the Geneva location 12-2pm.

Regards, - Gregory Hyde

September 1, 2010

Last Friday, I had the privilege of opening up for Guster in Chicago at the John Hancock Center Plaza. The weather was gorgeous, the crowd was outstanding, and Guster rocked one heckuva great set. I also saw François Chau (Dr. Chang on Lost), and my wife and I made a successful first all-day trip to Chicago with Avery (our 1 month old). You can check out some pics by clicking here. Video coming soon!

This month has some great things in store - an all originals show at Graham's in Geneva on 09/03, my return to Wildwood in Geneva on 09/04, and maybe even another suprise gig waiting in the wings... check the SHOWS page often for updates.

Also worth noting - I will now be performing my lunchtime set on Tuesdays at the Potbelly in South Elgin instead of Wheaton. No worries, Wheaton fans - I'm still there every Thursday, so I'll continue to supply your sammich-chomping soundtrack.

Regards, - Gregory Hyde

August 10, 2010

We're burning through summer, and as promised there have been quite a few special event & festival performances, BUT WAIT! More are on the way...

On Friday, August 27th, I'll be opening for Guster at the John Hancock Center Plaza in Chicago. I'm extremely excited about this show. Check the SHOWS page for more details.

Also, on Friday, September 3rd, I'll be performing a very special show at Graham's 318 in Geneva. Why so special? It's an all originals show - 2 hours of Gregory Hyde music. I'll be playing some of the faves from my albums as well as songs I've never played live before. Come sing along to the songs you know and chuckle at the folks who pretend like they know the words to the new ones.

June 1, 2010

Driving to Tulsa, a major success of a show at Joe Momma's with my brother Chris, driving back to Chicago, buying a new house, packing, moving, preparing for a new baby, playing multiple shows in a day, doing some web overhauls... all in the last 2 weeks. Laziness is not something I struggle with.

Private party season is once again upon us! If you'd like to hire me to perform at your backyard party, grad party, wedding, or corporate event - call me now! These summer dates get booked up fast, especially on the weekends.

Speaking of web work - check out the STORE section. You can now place orders for packages that will save you money. So get a shirt with your copy of the new album and save some Benjamins. Better yet, buy the package of 50 CDs and get a free live performance at your place (First one to purchase it this month gets a free shirt thrown in!).

We're working hard to put together some great shows and events to promote the new CD. Want to help out? Drop me a line and let me know how you'd like to get involved. And always feel free to spread the word! Nothing moves things forward more than a good ol' friendly referral. That's how cults get started! Things to think about...

Regards, - Gregory Hyde

May 1, 2010

Winter has been gone throughout much of the country for months... and Chicagoland is finally catching up. Be on the lookout for some festivals and outdoor performances in the coming months.

BIG NEWS - I'll be playing my first official show in Tulsa in almost 5 years. So for all of you Tulsa fans who keep asking, mark your calendars for May 22nd at Joe Momma's in downtown Tulsa - check the SHOWS page for details. That performance will feature myself and my brother, Chris Hyde. We'll have copies of the CD and other merch for you to buy,... and maybe a few tricks up our sleeve...

This month also marks my return to Foxfire in Geneva, as well as my first performance at Shanahan's in Downers Grove.

NOTE: I will not be performing at any Potbelly locations between 05/21 & 05/31

Regards, - Gregory Hyde

A gigantic THANK YOU goes out to all of you who came out to shows, bought CDs, and supported me in 2009. I couldn't do what I do without my fans, and I am eternally grateful for each and every person who has taken the time to listen.

New Years Eve at Wildwood was a gigantic success, so if you want to relive the magic (or get a taste if you missed out), don't worry - I'll be back at Wildwood a few times this month. Check the SCHEDULE page for more info.

The new album is in the final (yes, REALLY) stages of mixing. I am absolutely loving how this disk is sounding. After 2+ years and more money than I care to mention... I suppose I better. More news to come soon.
